Chia originally occurs from southern Mexico to Ecuador. The seeds or other parts of the plant were used medicinally as ingredients or in recipes. To banish blemishes: Due to its anti-inflammatory power, chia seed oil can help clear blemishes quickly. Use it as a spot treatment by applying it to blemishes with a Q-tip. Just let it sink in before applying any other products.

For shiny hair: Protein and zinc are optimal minerals for hair health which chia seed oil has both. Apply two to three drops to your palms, rub together and rake through lengths prior to styling for added sheen. Alternatively, add it to damp hairs as a leave-on conditioner.
